Multi-Spindle Heads for Drilling & Tapping

Match a multi-spindle drilling or tapping head to your hole pattern, tooling and machine interface. Share your drawing for a review of fixed or adjustable layouts and the required scope of supply.

Compare fixed and adjustable head layouts

Multiple-spindle heads place several tools around a defined pattern. Use the comparison below to frame the review; available designs and dimensions must be confirmed for your drawing.

DecisionFixed layoutAdjustable layout
Pattern fitSpindle positions are established for a defined pattern. Review the complete coordinate drawing.Positions can be set within the design's adjustment envelope. Confirm every required position is reachable.
Part-family changesA different pattern may require a different head or a revised arrangement.Changing positions requires a documented setting, locking and verification procedure.
ClearanceCheck spindle bodies, holders, tools and fixture access at the selected centers.Check those clearances plus the space occupied by the adjustment and drive arrangement.

Define the operation

Drilling heads and tapping heads need different checks

Hole count is only the starting point. Review the drive, axial motion and tool clearance for the operation each spindle will perform.

Multi-spindle drilling heads

Provide hole diameter, depth, material, entry surface and through-hole or blind-hole details. Review the spindle arrangement with the feed system, chip clearance, fixture and required hole quality.

Multi-spindle tapping heads

Provide thread size, pitch, usable depth and prepared-hole condition for each position. Review feed synchronization, reversal, holder requirements and whether different thread groups need separate operations.

Define what you are buying

Head component or matched machine configuration?

State your preferred purchase scope at the start. The proposed configuration and quotation must identify which components and integration work are included.

For an existing machine

Send the machine make and model, spindle nose or taper details, mounting dimensions and photographs with a scale reference. Include available travel and clearance, speed information and the feed/control arrangement.

Ask for confirmation of the input connection, head support, holders, mounting parts and the work required on your existing machine. A matching taper alone does not confirm that the assembly is suitable.

Review attachment vs machine scope →

For a complete machining setup

Start with the drawing, material, inspection requirements and output target. Review the machine, head, tooling and fixture together, then define manual loading or the handling equipment needed.

Ask the quotation to distinguish the head assembly, machine platform, fixture, tools, guarding, controls and commissioning scope. Head-only and matched-machine requests are subject to configuration review.

Multi-spindle head price & quotation

Get a quote for your pattern and interface

Pricing depends on the required head layout, input connection, holders, mounting parts and integration scope. Send the details opposite to establish a comparable offer.

If you have several part variants, include all patterns and identify which ones share tooling. This helps separate one adjustable setup from multiple dedicated arrangements.

Multi-spindle head buying questions

Is a multi-spindle head the same as a multi-spindle machine?

A head distributes drive to several tool spindles. A complete machine also provides the supporting structure, feed motion, controls, workholding and the agreed handling equipment. State whether you need a head for an existing machine or a matched machine configuration so the quotation can define the boundary.

Can I order a head separately?

Include “head-only inquiry” and your existing machine details in your request. BINSING needs to confirm whether a suitable component can be supplied for that interface and process, or whether a matched machine arrangement should be reviewed. A head shown in a photograph does not establish a stocked, universally compatible attachment.

What is the minimum spindle center distance?

It depends on the head design, spindle and holder envelopes, tools and required hole pattern. Send the smallest center distance together with the full coordinate drawing and tool information. A single spacing dimension does not establish that every spindle position is reachable.

Can one head drill and tap?

The complete drive, feed, tooling and process must be reviewed for the requested operation. Tapping requires pitch-related axial movement and reversal or another agreed withdrawal method; drilling compatibility alone does not establish tapping compatibility. If you need both operations, include the sequence and prepared-hole details.

How is the multi-spindle head price determined?

A useful quotation identifies the pattern, spindle arrangement, input interface, tool holders, mounting and support parts, and any machine integration work. Request an itemized scope so a head-component price can be compared with another component offer, and a complete-machine price with another complete system.
